MichaelDannyGeorge, 53, of Barberton, passed away Friday, January 6 following a year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Amherst, Ohio on May 10, 1958.
Michael graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1976, and later from Kent State University. He worked as a brick layer for DannyGeorge Masonry, Stroh Brewing Company, Ed Landis Construction, Gehring Masonry, and later owned his own company, George & Chaussee Construction Company. He loved sports, especially baseball and wrestling, and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
He is survived by his parents, Danny and Rita (nee Shays) George of Avon Lake; companion of 22 years, Jody Harvey; brother, Donald (Debbie) George; and nephews, Jeremy and Benjamin George.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake, with Rev. Dr. Kelly Brill officiating. A gathering of friends will be held at 1205 Maryland Ave., Akron, OH on Saturday, January 28, 2012 beginning at 3:30 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to the Busch Funeral Home, Avon Lake.
At Michael's request, contributions can be made in his name to Jeremy Cares, Inc., 109 Tomahawk, Avon Lake, OH 44012, a non-profit organization created in his nephew, Jeremy's, name that supports families of pediatric cancer.
