Captain Brian Gregory Rogers, beloved son of Thomas and Jeanne Rogers of Phoenix, Arizona and husband of Barbara Rogers of Elyria, Ohio, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident in Carlisle Twp. He was born May 9, 1957 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Captain Rogers was employed by Great Lakes Towing Co. of Cleveland, Ohio where he had 20 years of service. He was a graduate of Holland High School, Holland, Michigan and attended the Great Lakes Maritime Academy, Traverse City, Michigan prior to serving with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1977-81. Brian assisted many vessels on the Great Lakes and was always obliging a child when they wanted him to blow the tug whistle. Brian was an active member of St. Jude Church and the St. Jude Men’s Club, The Deputies Drum and Baton Corp, International Ship Masters Association Cleveland Lodge No. 4, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Wings of Change, and a 20 year member of Alcoholic Anonymous-St. Jude Home Group, Sunday night.

Captain Brian Rogers leaves his children Sgt. Keith Rogers of the 101st Airborne Division, Lynn Laule (Jim) active in the U.S. Coast Guard Norfolk, Virginia, Barbara Jeanne Rogers of Bay Village, Ohio; their mother Rose Rogers Holley (Jim); daughter Tori Madison Rogers of Elyria; step-sons Justin Urig (Sara), active U.S. Coast Guard Dollar Bay, MI and Paul Mackiewicz (Michelle) of Elyria; grandchildren Lilly and Mia Laule, David, Jacob and Jonathan Rogers and Cynthia Mackiewicz. He is also survived by his sisters Leslie Ann Rogers, Dr. Pamela Rogers Bosch (Dr. Paul Bosch), brothers Sean P. Rogers (Danielle Jensen), Chris Rogers (Amanda Nelson), and several nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Michael Rogers.
